Effective Engineering Leader is a structured, small-group coaching and training course for people seeking to build foundational skills in engineering leadership.
This course is suitable for engineering leaders who manage individual contributors, those who lead through influence, or those aspiring to engineering leadership roles. Course content is discipline agnostic (relevant to development, testing, etc.).
Public courses will run with small groups of people working in similar time zones, cultures, and problem spaces, at similar stages of their career.

Course Content
Leading Engineers
Run great 1:1s. Practice delivering meaningful recognition and actionable feedback to engineers. Discuss how to support goal setting for engineers at different stages of their career. Foster a positive engineering culture.
Engineering Metrics
Understand how to track throughput, quality, performance, reliability, security, etc. Explore what to measure in your team and how to use metrics to drive change. Discuss how to interpret and leverage engagement scores.
Effective Partnership
Learn how to partner with product and other non-technical roles, collaboratively drive delivery, and lead to deadlines. Practice techniques to assess and persuasively advocate for technical debt investment.
Recruiting Engineers
Debate how to interview for engineers. Learn about salary banding, market rates, and the factors that should influence relative positioning of staff. Understand equitable promotion and recruitment practices.
Workload Management
Share strategies to manage competing and urgent demands on both the team and the leader. Learn how to identify and successfully delegate tasks to engineers. Discuss techniques for personal time management.
Navigating Turmoil
Discuss challenging situations and form personal strategies to navigate conflict and politics in your organisation. Develop heuristics for when to escalate or absorb, when to shield a team or share information.
